Quin on ROMANCE
Romance is entirely in the eye of the beholder. Behold what I find romantic:
Learning to cook someone's favorite meal, then cooking and sharing the meal together.
Love languages and ideas on romance, I’ve learned, can shift and morph over the years, and in recent years, I have come to love the expression of love and romance through food. When my romantic partner cooks for me, I feel such mouth-watering anticipation. Too, them teaching me how to make dishes they excel at making, from their own recipes to ones handed down generationally, fills me with pleasure.
I may not be an excellent cook myself, but I love allowing myself to not only enjoy things I’m not the best at, but moreover to relish the experience of witnessing a loved partner dazzle me with their culinary talents. Slicing and dicing together feels good. Then, seeing their face light up as I enjoy a meal they created is incredibly titillating. The act of consuming food is a rich sensory experience, from sight to smell to taste, to the feel of each morsel the tongue. Eating together is especially exciting in a romantic setting because the food makes you feel good from the inside out, and those bites give you energy for more amorous activities afterwards. I've never been a mix-food-with-sex type of person but sharing a meal before or after sex? A little of both? Appetizers, sex, main dish, sex, dessert, more sex …? That’s my idea of deliciously romantic. Call and tell me what we’d cook up together. - Quin
